He was a 1935 graduate of Albion High School, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served 22 months in North Africa and Italy. He was awarded a Purple Heart, a Cluster and a Bronze Star. He worked as a carpenter for 22 years and then as a mail carrier for 20 years. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church of McKean, he served on Church Council as an usher. His hobbies included wood carving and painting.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert C. Ball.
Survivors include his wife, Erna Hillman Ball; a daughter, Susan G. Goode of Bradford, Ohio; and two grandsons.
Entombment will be in Erie County Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
