Paul W. "Hammer" Hanrahan, 75, of Dravosburg, passed away Monday, July 11, 2011, at his residence. He was born Sept. 19, 1935, in New Castle, to the late Jack C. Hanrahan and Dorothea (Kauffman) Hanrahan. He moved to Dravosburg when he was 6 years old and attended 3rd Street School, McCave School and graduated MeKeesport High School in 1953. After graduation he went to work for Bell Telephone. He enlisted in the Army in 1957 and served until 1959. He was stationed in Germany for one year with the 4th Armored Division and was called into the Army again and served from 1961 through 1962. Paul played fast pitch softball for about 20 years with Stanko's All Stars, Chuck's Grill, Corry Construction, McKeesport Leons and McKeesport Lionheart, helped coach Dravosburg Little League and Pony Leagues. His hobbies were photography and traveling all over the country. He also was a member of the Dravosburg Volunteer Fire Company 1, American Legion and Verizon Pioneers.
