Louis A. Accardi Sr., age 75 of Shelton, a retired pharmacist and beloved husband of Janis Sokol Accardi, died on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Bridgeport on September 10, 1935, he was a son of the late Louis and Catherine Benedetto Accardi. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, he formally owned and operated McKenzie's Pharmacy in Trumbull. He was a past member of the Trumbull Rotary Club and enjoyed gardening. In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by his son Louis Accardi Jr. of Shelton, daughters, Deborah Clancy and her husband Craig of Seymour, Sherry Croll and her husband Daniel of Stratford, Christine Brushie of Southington, Priscilla McCall and her husband, John Sr. of Ansonia, and Hope Balzano and her husband, Anthony Jr. of Shelton; brothers, Alexander Accardi of FL, Robert Accardi and his wife, Martha of New York, and John Accardi and his wife, Wendy of Florida. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Theresa, Brian and Megan Clancy, Joseph, Sean, Christopher Maxfield, Brittany and Benjamin Croll, Tanner and Taylor Brushie, John Jr. and Chelsi McCall, and Anthony, Samantha, Taylor and Michael Balzano. Mr. Accardi is also survived by his aunt, Ellie Accardi of Bridgeport; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Florence Nesing of Meriden as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would personally like to thank the staff and aides on the 8th and 10th floor of St. Vincent's Medical Center for the care they provided and a special thank you to Dr. Richard Lovanio. Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 9 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial.
