John Miles DeWalt, 65, Larimer, died at 6 Saturday evening in Veterans Hospital, Oakland. He was a resident of Westmoreland County all his life and had lived in Larimer more than 40 years.
Born April 24, 1894 in Harrison City, he was a retired employee of Westinghouse Electric Corp., of Trafford. A veteran of World War I, serving with the Army, he was a son of the late Henry J. and Ann Bush DeWalt.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Larimer, and had been active in church work for many years. He was a member of the church consistory, serving as a deacon and had previously served as a trustee and elder. He also served on the election board for a number of years and an unsuccessful candidate for North Huntingdon Township commissioner. Surviving are his widwo, Mrs. Agnes Lentz DeWalt, one daughter, Mrs. Bertha Frick, Irwin, two grandsons, and two sister, Mrs. Ethel Wyncoop and Mrs. Gail Barton, both of Harrison City. Friends will be recieved from 2-5 and 7- 10 at the Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main St., Irwin, where services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, with his pastor, Rev. Robert Strommen and his former pastor, Rev. Arthur W Papenmeier, officiating. Interment will be in Irwin Union Cemetery.
