Fred Dyess Died Claxton Thursday After Long Illness
Fred Dyess,78,died at his residence in Claxton Thursday afternoon following a long illness.
He was a native of Tattnall County.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Needy Grimes Dyess; two daughters, Mrs. Joe Sloeman Ashmore of Hinesville and Mrs. Hugh Dyess of Claxton; a sister, Mrs. Terrell Hodges of Claxton; three brothers, W.T. and Barney Dyess of Claxton and Clayton Dyess of Glennville and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Beard's Creek Primitive Baptist Church, conducted by Elder Gilbert Cribbs. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Gene Durrence, Charles Hammock, Emory Wilson, Harold Kemp, Warnell Mixon and Ray Durrence.
