Went to Nebraska in 1879 where he married Clara Forcade in 1882. They then removed to the vicinity of Yellowstone National Park, where he became a licensed Rocky Mountain hunting guide. In his later years, he removed back to Scandia, Kansas, and lived with a brother, but returned to Wyoming and lived with a son until his death by stomach cancer. Many descendants survive today.
