STAMFORD - Harry Manning Blood, 69, native and prominent resident of Stamford, died Oct. 16, in Paradise, Calif., after a long illness. He had been a patient for three years in a convalescent home in Paradise. Born June 19, 1880, he was a son of the late Eli M. and Francelia (Ames) Blood. His great-grandparents were Silas and Polly (Edwards) Blood, early settlers of Stamford. He had operated the Blood Dairy Farm, now the Stamford Valley Golf Course, until his retirement in 1940. Active in town affairs, he had served as selectman and lister. He was a member of the Bennington County Farm Bureau, a Sunday School Superintendent in the Stamford Methodist Church and a charter member and officer of Stamford Valley grange. In Paradise he was a member of First Christian church. On June 3, 1907, he married the former Florence Jepson, who died on March, 1934. His second wife was Mrs. Alice Tomlinson, whom he married on May 11, 1935. Besides his wife, he leaves six children by his first marriage. They are, Mrs. Leroy Lawrence and Ralph and Howard Blood all of Stamford; Mrs. Earl Allen of Fallon, Nev., Roger Blood of Central Lake, Mich., and Mrs. Thomas Rice of Brattleboro. He also leaves a step daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Ward of New York City; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. The funeral was held Saturday in the chapel of Pines in Paradise, and another service was held this afternoon in the Stamford Methodist church. Bearers were husbands of granddaughters, David Finney, Robert Pecor, Wallace R. Noyes and Alfred Mullett. The Rev. Samuel Ames Walker, pastor of the Stamford Community church, officiated.
