He was born on December 17, 1929, in Calhoun County. He was retired from the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department and was a deacon at Chambersville Baptist Church. He also served in the Army.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Jewell Steelman and Leila Ezell-Steelman and a brother, Leroy Steelman.
His survivors include his wife, Hershey Dean Gresham Steelman; three sons, Ricky E. Steelman of Fordyce, Dean R. Steelman of Kingsland and Deverne O. Steelman of Thornton; a daughter, Pennie A. Robertson of Fordyce; three brothers, George Steelman of Fordyce, Wayne Steelman of Stephens and Larry Steelman of Converse, Louisiana; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held at Benton Funeral Home at Fordyce with the Revs. Billy Joe Evans and Larry McDaniel officiating. Burial was in Chambersville Cemetery.
