ALEXANDER RITES SET MONDAY
Idabel resident Helen Evon McHargue Alexander, 79, left this world to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 2, 2002. at Paris, Texas. She was born Aug. 26, 1922, in McCurtain County, Okla., to Pat and Josey McHargue.
Helen lived all of her life in McCurtain County. She was a certified air craft welder during World War II. For 21 years, she operated the Daily Oklahoma Agency and worked as a healthcare provider before retiring.
She enjoyed fishing and loved gardening and sharing flowers with friends and neighbors. Helen loved to go to church and had been a member of Central Baptist Church since 1956.
Helen Alexander, loving mother and grandmother, was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Lois McHargue, Ophelia Frunk and Loraine Chaney; and her brother, Lewis McHargue.
Left to cherish her memory are her brothers and sister-in-law, Ralph "Pete" McHargue, Eugene, Ore., and David and Helen McHargue, also of Eugene; her daughter, Linda Hurst, Idabel; her grandchildren, Evondail Guthrie of West Virginia and J. L. Hurst, Freer, Texas; her great-grandsons, Jeffrey Hurst, Jason Hurst and Justin Hurst, all of Freer, Texas; her great-granddaughter, Lucinda Guthrie, Idabel; numerous nieces and nephews; and many very special friends.
The family of Helen Alexander will receive relatives and friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today, May 5, at Jim Norwood Funeral Home.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, May 6, at Central Baptist Church, Idabel. Interment will follow in Denison Cemetery, Idabel.
