Paul H. Rice, Sr was a race race driver/riding mechanic who was born on November 7th 1895 in Wellston, Ohio. He worked as an automobile mechanic and supervisor for an automobile factory in Indianapolis. Virtually unknown, he appeared as a riding mechanic in the 1930 and 1931 Indianapolis 500s with driver Russell Snowberger. They finished a respectable 8th and 5th completing all 200 laps in both races. As a driver Rice attempted to qualify unsuccessfully for races at Altoona, Pennsylvania and Syracuse, New York in 1930 and Indianapolis in 1932. Paul was entered in the 1932 Indianapolis 500 assigned to the #52 All American Special in which he practiced but did not qualify. This would be his only appearance as a driver at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
