A pillar monument about three feet high inscribed on three sides, one for each child. At the top is the name "Hawkens." At the bottom of the east side is inscribed:
"Chdn of Wesley & H.S. Hawkens"

My camera broke as I took the shot and I had to pull the film out, resulting in the eery-looking streaks on the photo.

George was the son of Wesley and Hannah Sydney (Stephens) Hawkins, who married 1 Jan 1860, Scioto Co., OH. Sydney H. Stephens was his mother's name on her marriage record. She subsequently used her middle name of Hannah.

Information from F.A.G. contributor "frenchlady" (#47309951):
"Wesley and Hannah were living in Harrison, Scioto, Ohio in 1870. They migrated to Missouri after that census. Wesley and Hannah were married in Portsmouth, Ohio in 1860... I found a christening record from Harrison, Scioto County, Ohio which lists George C's birth as 11 Jan 1872. The name on the 1870 Harrison, Scioto County census is not Hawkins but Hockins"
