KANNAPOLIS - Lula Estelle Sims Adams, 89, 310 S. East Ave., died Saturday (Feb. 19, 2000) at NorthEast Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born Dec. 29, 1910 in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Adams was the daughter of the late John Alexander Sims and Mary Etta Frieze Sims. She retired 24 years ago from Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, where she was a receptionist.

Mrs. Adams was a lifelong member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher, member of the UpperRoom Sunday School class, Young at Heart Club and the Sunshine Breakfast Club. She was a member of the Presbyterian Women and served as the circle's treasurer, historian and chairwoman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Andrew Adams, and a son, James Edward Adams.

Survivors include sister Laura Sims Brown, Kannapolis; brother Bud Sims, Kannapolis; daughter-in-law Imogene Crainshaw Adams, Salisbury; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services: Monday, 2 p.m., Bethpage Presbyterian Church, conducted by Dr. Steven Mowery. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Lady's Funeral Home, and 1-2 p.m. at the church.
