PFC US ARMY - WORLD WAR II
HALLOWELL - Hubert W. Adams, 94, of Hallowell and formerly Richmond, died on July 14, 2011, at Maine Veterans' Home, Augusta. He was born on May 7, 1917, in Woodsville, N.H., the son of Willis and Marion Adams. He attended Dover New Hampshire schools and also Wentworth Institute of Technology, graduating class of 1938.

Hugh proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Richmond American Legion and Village Lodge 26 Masons of Bowdoinham.

He worked as an electrical engineer for more than 31 years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

Hugh was very versatile and he had many interests, including wood working, bee keeping, photography and metal detecting, to name a few.

Hugh was predeceased by his parents; brother Francis Adams; sisters Barbara Larrabee, Eleanor Lance, and Helen Frost. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Marjorie Adams, of Hallowell; daughter Betty Ann Stubbs and her husband, Robert, of Moneta, Va.; son Hugh Adams of Dover, N.H.; brother John Adams and his wife, Laura, of Dover, N.H.; stepdaughter Janice Ashcroft and her husband, Richard, of Richmond; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one step-grandson; several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service at Forest Hill Cemetery, Dresden, with military honors. (Kennebec Journal 7/16/2011)
