Rebecca Joyce Ryan married Wallace Marion Poole on February 17, 1923, in Muskogee, OK.

POOLE, Rebecca Joyce, longtime Oklahoma City resident, died March 4, 1990, at Mercy Hospital. She was 87. She was born July 2, 1902, in Spiro, Okla., and attended high school in Muskogee. She was awarded a scholarship to the Draughon Business College in Muskogee. She served as chairwoman of the women's division of the Muskogee YMCA. In 1923, she married Wallace Poole in Muskogee. The couple moved to Oklahoma City in 1954 to be closer to their grandchildren. In Oklahoma City, she worked as a professional child care provider, caring for many local children from infancy. Many of her former charges have kept in touch with her over the years. Mrs. Poole was a faithful member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Oklaoma City, joining the congregation in 1954. Her family, her God and her church were the most important things in her life. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978, and by her son, Jerry Poole, longtime editorial writer for the Oklahoman, in 1987. Survivors include her sister,Lucy Tippie of Tacoma, WA, a daughter, Nita Wininger of Oklahoma City; two granddaughters, Lisa Wininger of Fairfax, VA and Jerilyn Sach of Upper Marlboro, MD; two grandsons, Lee Poole of Phoenix, AR and Gary Poole of Oklahoma City, and numberous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will take place Wednesday at 2 pm at Wesley United Methodist. Private burial services will be under the direction of Smith & Kernke Funeral Directors.
