J. DOUG KELM
J. Doug Kelm, age 76, of Chanhassen, died Sept. 20, 1999, of a brain aneurysm while vacationing in Canada.
Kelm, whose father Elmer was the founding chairman of the Minnesota DFL Party, was the former chairman of the Metropolitan Transit Commission and worked on the presidential campaigns for Hubert Humphrey in the 1960s.
In the late 1970s, he was appointed regional director of the U.S. Department of Transportation in Chicago. In the 1980s, he joined North State Advisors, Inc., a Minneapolis lobbying firm.
Kelm was born in Chanhassen.
He is survived by his wife, Dottie; sons, Bill, Jeff, Greg and Brian; daughter, Patty Jo Foley; sister, Mickey; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at St. Mark's Catholic Church in St. Paul on Sept. 27.
