William was a member of Company B of the 1st Maine Veteran Regiment Infantry in the Civil War.

According to "American Civil War Soldiers" William's residence was in the Eaton Grant Plantation. He enlisted at the age of 29 on August 12, 1864, as a private. He was drafted to Co. B, Maine 1st Infantry Regiment, on Dec. 8, 1864. He mustered out on June 28, 1865.

The Civil War Pension Index: General Index 1861-1934 says that William's wife was Ann E. Boobar.

According to Maine, Death Records, 1617 - 1922, he died on August 24, 1899, in Caribou, Maine at 63 years old.Husband of Anne Eliza Brown. Son of John Bubar & Phebe Ann Sands. Civil War Veteran.
