Private, Company F, 18th Pennsylvania Cavalry. Wounded and left on the field for dead, at Rock Fish Gap, near Waynesborough, Virginia, on September 28, 1864. He was captured and (as soon as his wounds would permit) taken to Libby Prison on November 10, 1864, where he remained until February 22, 1865. He was then paroled and first taken to Annapolis, thence to Philadelphia, and put in the Mower General Hospital, where he was discharged by General Order on July 17, 1865. Discharge date also listed as May 3, 1865.

Born in 1841, on the old farm at Horseshoe Church, Washington County, Pennsylvania. He graduated from the Iron City College, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and in 1862 joined the Eighteenth Pennsylvania Cavalry. Lived in Melrose, Iowa, Kansas City, Missouri, and Colorado, after the war but returned to Finleyville, Washington County, Pennsylvania in 1870 to help care for his aged mother. Filed for a pension on September 9, 1875, application number 208,285, certificate number 150,293.

ROBERT BIDDLE FRYE, age 9?, and a resident of Pueblo for the past 20 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. F. Kaufman, 1722 Jackson street, Tuesday morning, Jan. 12. Besides his daughter with whom he made his home, Mr. Frye is survived by another daughter, Mrs. E.M. Turner of Connelsville, Pa. and a son R. Morton Frye, of South bend Ind; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Deceased was a member of Pueblo Post No. 3, G.A.R., having served in Co. F. Eighteenth Pennsylvania cavalry under Colonel Kirkpatrick and Gen. Phil Sheridan from 1863 until the end of the Civil War. The time of funeral services will be announced later by Davis Mortuary.

Funeral services for Robert Biddle Frye were held at 3:30 o’clock Friday afternoon, Jan. 15 in the chapel of the Davis Mortuary. Dr. Walter S. Crozier officiated. The Temple choir sang “Sweetly Resting” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” The G.A.R. of which Mr. Frye was a member, having served his country during the YEARS OF THE Civil war, attended the service. The Women’s Relief corps and the daughters of Veterans each conducted their burial ceremony. The pallbearers were relatives of the deceased and were John and Paul Schane, Ted Kaufman, Chester Chappell, Robert Frye and Paul Turner. Interment was made in Mountain View Cemetery.
