NAHANT
Mr. Joseph A. Caloggero, 78, died Monday at the MIT Infirmary in Cambridge after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Martha V. (Campagna) Caloggero, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.
Born in Medford, he was the son of the late Anthony and Suzie(LoVerdi)Caloggero. He was raised in Medford and graduated from St. Clement's
High School in Medford, he also attended Northwestern University.
He served in the Army Corps during WWII.
Mr. Caloggero worked for 48 years at MIT as a technical instructor before retiring in 1994.
Mr. Caloggero was the co-owner of Joe and Nemo's, Nemo being his father's nickname. The Scollay Square Joe and Nemo's was the best known location, although there was a store on Revere Beach Boulevarde.
He lived in Nahant for 47 years. He was leader of Boy Scout Troop 50 in Nahant. He was a member of Knights of Columbus in Nahant, a former
member of the Nahant Lions Club and the Sons of Italy in Winchester.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Caloggero leaves three children, twins Anthony J. and Susan S. and James F. Caloggero, all of Nahant., a sister
Prudence Haskell of Florida, three grandsons and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Saverio and Samuel Caloggero.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 am from the Solimine,Landergan and Rhodes Funeral Home,67 Ocean St. Rte. 1A, Lynn,followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Nahant
at 10 am.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, in Nahant.
