Mrs. Baptista was a registered nurse at Memorial Hospital of Pawtucket for three years and Health Haven Nursing Home for 10 years before retiring in 1978. She was a 1935 graduate of Attleboro High School and a 1938 graduate of Pawtucket Memorial Nursing School.
Mrs. Baptista enjoyed being with her family, working in her yard, working with her hands, reading and working on puzzles. She was also an avid bird watcher. She was the loving mother of one daughter, Suzanne Baptista-Maresh of Portland, Oregon and two sons, Edward F. Baptista of Jamestown and Richard A. Baptista of Esmond. She was also the cherished grandmother of Alexandra Maresh and Matthew Baptista. She was the sister of Howard E. Johnson of Riverside.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10 AM in St. Martha's Church, Pawtucket Avenue. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. Contributions to Special Olympics Rhode Island, 33 College Hill Rd., Warwick, RI would be deeply appreciated. Arrangements by the PERRY/ MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME.
