Gordon L. Rudesill, 77, Hammond, WI, died suddenly Tuesday, September 5, 1995 at St. Paul Ramsey Hospital of heart failure.

Gordon was born January 28, 1918 at Baldwin, WI to Lloyd and Elizabeth (Brummels) Rudesill. Gordon was married to Margaret Olson on October 18, 1941. To this union six children were born. Margaret passed away on December 24, 1970. On November 4, 1972, Gordon married Vi Larson who died August 20, 1989. Louise (Gust) Swanson married Gordon on January 19, 1991.

Gordon was employed as a clerk for the Baldwin Post Office, then as the rural mail carrier in Hammond prior to his retirement nineteen years ago. He served in the Army in World War II and was a current member of the Baldwin American Legion Cave Dahl Post #240. He also served as Treasurer of Peace Lutheran Church for many years before transferring to Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Baldwin. Gordon was an active member of the Hammond Golf Club and he faithfully donated to the American Red Cross Bloodmobile.

Gordon is survived by his wife Louise; four daughters: Gayle (Kip) Lee, Baldwin; Debbie (Dan) Jalowitz, Hammond; Shelly (Dave) Johnson, Ellsworth; and Cindy (Bob) Campbell, Baldwin; two sons, Douglas (Susie) Rudesill, River Falls and Craig (Debbie) Rudesill, Maplewood, MN; eighteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step-sons; Wayne, Ted and David Swanson; and his brother Elmer (Carole) Rudesill, Baldwin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret, his wife Vi, and his brother Stanley.

Funeral services were on Friday, September 8 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church with Pastor Wallace Obinger officiating. Music was by Ruth Beckwith as organist and Ted Swanson, vocalist. Interment was at Peace Lutheran North Rush River Cemetery. Military services were held at the grave site by the Baldwin American Legion Post #240 (taps by granddaughter Ali Johnson). Pallbearers were grandchildren: David Lee, Dan Lee, Angie Lee, Nathan Lee, Carrie Klanderman, Joe Klanderman, Kim Johnson and Ali Johnson.

Visitation was held Thursday at the Dull Funeral Home in Baldwin and an hour before services at the church.
