OSHKOSH DAILY NORTHWESTERN (OSHKOSH, WI) Monday, July 1, 1907, Page 2:

Henry Zinn, one of the oldest residents of Oshkosh and a pioneer baker died suddenly Sunday afternoon at his home, 322 Merritt street at the age of seventy-seven years. Mr. Zinn had been a sufferer from chronic bronchial asthma for a number of years and for several weeks past had been in poor health. Nevertheless the end came unexpectedly, while he was sitting in a chair, fully dressed. Mr. Zinn had eaten dinner with his family and was sitting on the porch of his residence when he complained of illness and walked with assistance into the house. He was given a hypodermic injection of nitro-glycerin to stimulate his pulse, but he appeared to go to sleep and passed away quietly and easily.
Mr. Zinn was born in Loebenstein, Germany, April 10, 1830 and came to America in 1852. He came to Oshkosh in 1855 and had resided here continuously ever since that time. In company with Louis Ihrig he started a bakery on the present site of the Athearn Hotel, and in 1870 started in business for himself at the corner of Main street and North Park avenue, where he continued until his retirement in 1893. The building in which he started business was destroyed in 1874, but it was rebuilt and is now occupied by R. I. Crowell.
Mr. Zinn enlisted in 1862 in the Nineteenth Wisconsin regiment and served to the close of the war. He was a member of the John W. Scott post No. 241, and of the Sons of Hermann. He is survived by his wife, whom he married in 1868, and seven children, Henry Zinn Jr., of this city; Richard Zinn of Medina, NY; Herman Zinn of Chicago; Mrs. William Heiss, Mrs. Neil Andrews, and the Misses Clara and Frances Zinn, all of this city. All of the members of the family were present at the time of his death except the son Richard Zinn of Medina, NY.
The funeral will be held from the residence at 2:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, and Rev. E. H. Smith will have charge of the services. At the grave in Riverside Cemetery, the exercises will be conducted by the John W. Scott post.
