Mary Lois Slaughter Dockery, 86, of Knoxville, TN died Monday, August 16, 2010 following an extended illness. She was a native of Graham County.
She was daughter of the late Ida Slaughter and wife of the late Richard Dockery. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lacy and Eugene Slaughter, and a son-in-law, Carl S. Melton Jr.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Melton of Knoxville and Margaret Much and husband, Irwin of Naples, FL; two grandchildren, Christopher and Amy Melton; a son-in-law, Edgar Scruggs; three sisters-in-law, Lena Slaughter, Hazel Farmer, and Hattie Stegall; two nieces, Lynn Slaughter Padgett and Larisa Slaughter.
Funeral services were held at 7:30 PM Wednesday, August 18 at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel in Knoxville with Dr. Jerry Taylor officiating. Graveside services were held 12:00 PM Thursday, August 19 at Unaka Cemetery with Dr. Chester Jones officiating.
The family received friends from 5:30-7:30 Wednesday evening at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel in Knoxville.
