Mrs. Poffenbarger Services Will Be Conducted At Church

Services for Mrs. Livia Simpson Poffenbarger, wife of former Judge George Poffenbarger of the supreme court, who died Wednesday afternoon at her home following a nine weeks' illness, will be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the First Presbyterian church.

The Rev. Ernest Thompson, D. D. will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Memorial park.

Mrs. Poffenbarger was one of West Virginia's most prominent historians, civic and Republican leaders. She also was a well known newspaper woman, author and lecturer.

For the past few years Mrs. Poffenbarger had labored to obtain a governmental appropriation so that names of men who participated in the first battle of the Revolution might be inscribed on a monument at Poimt Pleasant.

She also was largely responsible for the founding of Tu-Endio-Wie park at Point Pleasant, and the monument commemorating the Colonials who died there in the Indian battle in 1774.

Mrs. Poffenbarger's body will lie in state at the church an hour before the services.
