Elizabeth McGuinness DeTuro, 84, of Middletown Township, died at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel Township. Mrs. DeTuro, known as "Bess," was the former owner of the Boardwalk variety store and other concessions in the Keansburg Amusement Park from 1942 to 1973. Prior to that, she was the editor of the Keansburg Newspaper from 1939 to 1943. She studied journalism at Monmouth College, West Long Branch. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Keansburg Fire Department; the MCOSS; the Keansburg Republican Club and the Beacon Hill Country Club, Middleton. Mrs. DeTuro was born in Staten Island and lived in Keansburg for many years before moving to Middleton in 1966. Her first husband, Raymond Aalbue, died in 1939; her second husband, Patrick DeTuro, died in 1966; her daughter, Joan Fields, died in 1991; her step-son Patric DeTuro died in 1959, and her step-son Samuel DeTuro died in 1987. Surviving are two grandsons, three granddaughters, and nine great-grandchildren.
