--Historian Elinor Hefner Dies at 72--
Services will be held at 10 am Wednesday for Elinor Hartmetz Hefner, widow of the late Oklahoma City oil man Robert A Hefner Jr. Elinor Hefner, 72, died Sunday at St Anthony Hospital after a short illness.

She was an avid collector of memorabilia about the longtime Oklahoma Hefner family and worked closely with the Oklahoma Heritage Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving state history.

Born Jan 5, 1917, Elinor Hartmetz married Robert A Hefner Jr on March 16, 1945. They briefly lived in Evansville IN before moving to Oklahoma City.

She was the family authority on Judge Robert A Hefner, whose family home at 201 NW 14 was donated to the Oklahoma Heritage Association after his death in 1970, relatives said.

Elinor Hefner was a member of the Oklahoma Heritage Association, the Oklahoma City Junior League, and the Audubon Society to which memorials may be made.

Services will be at Rose Hill Mausoleum, 6001 NW Grand Blvd. Arrangements are under the direction of Hahn-Cook, Street and Draper.

Elinor Hartmetz Hefner, 72, passed away Sep 10, 1989. She was the daughter of Otto and Ruth Hartmetz, born Jan 5 1917. After high school in Evansville IN, she attended Knox College in New York state. Elinor married Robert A Hefner Jr on Mar 16, 1945. After living a few years in Evansville, the couple moved to Oklahoma City.

Her brother Charles, mother and father preceded her in death. Survivors include Robert A Hefner III, grandchildren Robert A Hefner IV, Catherine Hefner Urice, and Charles Ray Hefner, Harrica Hartmetz and her children, Charles, Katinka and Vicki. Elinor's great grandchildren, Charles Hefner V, Mary Inman Hefner, Lily Louise and Alexander Urice and her companion, Helen Galbreath.

Elinor took an intense interest in her family and their daily lives and until her death remained the family documentarian extradionaire. She worked closely with the Oklahoma Heritage Association and the Audubon Society to which memorials may be made. Services will be held 10 am Wednesday the 13th at Rose Hill Mausoleum under the direction of Hahn-Cook, Street & Draper Funeral Directors.
