Jasper York was a Civil War soldier who had contracted
tuberculosis while in the service. Jasper later died in Florida where they had
moved because of his health.
On July 22, 1843, his wife, Juliet T. Flanegan was born to Joel Lycueques
Flanegan and Mary Caroline Sansing in Paulding County, Georgia. Her tombstone
states July 22, 1848 (should be 1843); The year 1848 would not be correct as she
married Jasper York in Polk County, Georgia on March 21, 1858.
Jasper was the son of Josiah Cowan York, Sr. who was born in 1799 in Tennesse
and died in 1879 in Polk County, Georgia. His mother was Sarah Virginia Blake
who was born in 1802 in Tennessee and died in 1878 in Guilford, North Carolina.
Jasper & Juliet had the following children:

Inscription
Jasper Newton is NOT buried at this site. His descencents had the headstone
placed at the Van Wert Church to be represented with his family. We have a
family document stating that his wife, Juliet, took him to St. Petersburg, FL.
for treatment for tuberculosis where he died and was buried. [email protected]
