Esther Romanchick Donahue, 44, of Newark, New Jersey died Sunday June 10, 1962. She was born on July 25, 1917. Esther was a true "coal miner's daughter" - born and raised in a "company house" in a small coal mining town in Eastern Pennsylvania.

Esther was a very beautiful, very wild and spirited young girl, and had the same sharp Greek-like features of her Ukrainian ancestors. She was a young girl that loved to have fun, and was very outgoing in her teens. Esther loved to dance and entered many dancing contests while living in Freeland, PA .She had one special dance partner, and together they won many contests along with a trophy, which unfortunately has gotten lost over the years. She was very close to her siblings and enjoyed all the family get-togethers. The sisters would laugh, dance, and relive the escapades of their youth.

Somewhere in her late teens or early twenties, this beautiful young lady met and fell in love with a dashingly handsome young man, and on her 21st birthday became Mrs. William A. Donahue.

Throughout the war, Esther had many factory jobs, ranging from the Candle factory to the Paper Bag Co. where she spent most of her working years. Esther took in all of her brothers at one time or another, as they returned home from the war. She continued to work at the paper bag factory, until her pregnancy in late 1955.

In 1961, five years after the birth of her third and last child Kenny, Esther was diagnosed with Cancer. A year later she lost her fight and passed quietly in the early hours of that Sunday morning. When she left to be with Our Father, she left behind her husband William Sr., a daughter, JoAnn and two sons William Jr and Kenneth to carry on. She was laid to rest in the Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, in East Hanover, New Jersey.

Mom,
Although our parting came much too soon, I want you to know that you have never left my heart. I carry you with me everywhere I go, and think of you every day. I miss the love that only a Mother can give, and I miss you oh so deeply.
- Kenny
