U.S. Congressman. He immigrated to the United States with his parents in 1872, graduated from the Lowell School of Design, a branch of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in 1888 and was a designer of fabric products. He graduated from Harvard Dental School in 1898, commenced practice in Boston, Massachusetts, moved to Perth Amboy, New Jersey, in 1901 and continued the practice of dentistry. He was a member of the New Jersey House of Assembly, (1904-05), a member of the Middlesex County Board of Taxation, (1906-09), moved to Schenectady, New York, in 1912 and continued the practice of dentistry. In 1919, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-sixth Congress and to the next eleven succeeding Congresses, serving until 1943. After his term, he moved to Pueblo, Colorado and engaged in various business interests until his death at age 85.
