LOUDONVILLE — Betty Jane Chapman, 94, a resident of the Colonial Manor Health Care Center in Loudonville and formerly of Brinkhaven, died Monday, July 18, 2011, at the center.

She was born Feb. 5, 1917, in Columbus to the late Harry and Nellie (Critchfield) House. She married W. Oran Chapman on Oct. 19, 1941, who preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 2001. She was the former owner and operator of Chapman's Greenhouse in Danville, and a member of the Brinkhaven Church of Christ. She loved gardening, crocheting, telling stories, and was a great wealth of knowledge, especially on her family's history. But above all else, she loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother.

Since 2006, Betty lived in the Colonial Manor Health Care Center, where she has received excellent love and care from the staff.

She is survived by a son, Glenn Lee Chapman of Ashland; a special daughter-in-law, Suellen Chapman Bennett of Brinkhaven; four grandchildren, Brian (Laura) Chapman of Loudonville, Bradley Chapman Sr. (Sherri) of Millersburg, Brent Chapman (Deb) and Bethany Chapman, both of Brinkhaven; 11 great-grandchildren, Bobby, Derrick, Kayla, Nicholas, Bradley, Brandon, Katarina, Mariah, Mason, Jarin and Joshua; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack House; and many other loved ones.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 21, at 1 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville with Pastor Bob Hines officiating. Interment will follow in Brinkhaven Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Visit http://www.fischerfuneralhome.com.
