U.S. Congressman. Moving to Colorado in 1878, he graduated from Colorado College in 1885, was editor of the Colorado Springs Gazette, (1886-88), plus engaged in the grain and hay business. He was a member of the Colorado State Senate (1896-1904) and president of the Colorado State charter convention in 1909). In 1913, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-third Congress, serving until 1915. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed his former business pursuits and was receiver of the Mercantile National Bank of Pueblo, Colorado (1915-23).
