Son of Jonathan Acheson (bn. N. Ireland) and Emma Bates (who had a farm in Dryden, NY). He is the grandson of David William Acheson and Mary Neill of Drumard, Cookstown, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland and also of Otis Avery Bates and Sarah Ann Carver who were probably of New York.

He was a soldier killed Oct 9, 1943.
