Josh was a Capt. in the US Army during World War II. When the Army and Air Force split after WWII Uncle Josh was in the Air Force during the Korean War. He retired as a Major.

When his tour of duty was up, he transferred to the Army where he was joined the Normandy Invasion (but on the 3rd, 4th or 5th day - not the first day or second). When that tour was over, he again transferred to the Air Force where he regained his rank of Captain.
