Rachel Strain is the daughter of Andrew Strain, Sr. (ca. 1750-1826) and Mary (Burgin?) (1742-1841). She married Richard Wilson (1767-1850) about 1794 in North Carolina.
Together they have nine known children:
1. John Franklin Wilson (1795-1871)
2. David Wilson (died young)
3. James Wilson (b. ca. 1800)
4. Isabella Wilson (1802-1889) m. William Henry Tatham
5. Rosanna Wilson (b. ca. 1803) m. Isaac Morrison
6. Thomas Alexander Wilson (1808-1899)
7. Mary Wilson (b. ca. 1810) m. Anderson Sutton
8. Levi Wilson (1810-1900)
9. Rachel Ann Wilson (b. ca. 1813, d. 1892) m. (1) George Hice; m. (2) John M. Johnston
(NOTE: The mother of Rachel Strain was initially believed to have been Mary Reed, but this has been discounted. It is now believed she was Mary Burgin.)
