He was an Army veteran, a member of the Ninth Street Church of Christ and a Lincoln High School graduate.
Funeral will be held at 11:30a.m. Friday at Ninth Street Church of Christ with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma; a daughter, Carolyn Thompson of Oklahoma City; a son, Christopher Thompson of Dardanelle; two sisters, JoAnne Bell of Oklahoma City and Mattie Jones of Van Buren; two brothers, Leonard Thompson of Fort Smith and Juniper Thompson of Oklahoma City; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be, Richard Taylor, Isaac Poole, Homer Shepherd, Josiah Holmes, Michael Franks, Shawn Straham and Michael Carey.
