US Congressman. He attended Amherst College, graduated from the Litchfield Law School, was admitted to the bar in 1828 and proceeded to practice law in Windham, Connecticut, in 1829. He was a member of the Connecticut State House of Representatives, in 1831, secretary to the Connecticut Governor, and prosecuting attorney for Windham County. In 1843, he was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-eighth Congress, serving until 1845. After leaving Congress, he served in the Connecticut State Senate and was judge of the Windham County Court, from 1850, until his death at age 43.
