Rev. Dr. Joseph Parkinson Roby, 77, of Inwood, West Virginia, died Thursday, July 21, 2011 in Charles Town, West Virginia.

Rev. Roby was born February 7, 1934 in Brunswick, Maryland, the son of James Samuel and Mary Elizabeth DeGrange Roby.

He was the minister of People's Country Church and the Brite Spot TV Minister on the Faith Network in Woodstock, Virginia. He was an Evangelist and was instrumental in starting numerous churches in the four state areas.
He was a member of the Independent Assemblies of God International.

He was married to Jean Kline Roby. Mrs. Roby died on December 26, 1997. He later married Rev. Barbara L. Hurless.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Rev. Phillip Roby and his wife, Kim; and Rev. Allen Roby and his wife, Melissa, all of Clearbrook, VA; two step-sons, Ricky Lee Allison and his wife, Pam of Manassas, VA and James T. Allison III and his wife, Su of Bealeton, VA; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Mary, Stephanie, Jordan and Tiffany Roby; a step-granddaughter, Dr. Jessica Meyers and her husband, Mike; two step-great-grandchildren, Justin and Madalyn Meyers; and a brother, Lt. Col. James Franklin Roby of Brunswick, MD.

A sister, Mary Ellen Trapanese and a brother, George William Cecil Roby preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 P. M. Sunday, July 24, 2011 at the People's Country Church, Winchester, VA with Dr. Roy Smith and Rev. Ron Neff officiating. Burial will follow at Timber Ridge Christian Church Cemetery, Highview, WV.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 9:00 P. M. Saturday evening at the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the People's Country Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 2223, Winchester, VA 22604.
