Growing up, her family called her "Libbie". She was christened at Wiesbaden Protestant Chapel on October 17, 1972, and her godparents were Ron & Liz Harmon.

As a little girl, memorable attributes were her cheerfulness, curiosity and a head full of tight orange curls. She loved Sesame Street, books and and anything to do with horses.

As a military daughter and wife she lived in Germany, New York, England, California, Ohio, Illinois, North Carolina and Texas.
