Frank died from injuries sustained in a railroad accident while employed for the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad. He was pinned beneath a rail car and died the same day at St. Joseph's Hospital in Alton, IL. (Frank's brother William was also working on the same train; he survived the accident)
