Mrs. Elizabeth Mattox Caldwell passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 25, after an extended illness. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday from the Palmetto Christian Church with the Rev. Ernest Miller and the Rev. J.B. Satterfield officiating. Burial was in the Caldwell family cemetery. Mrs. Caldwell is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Swift Smith, Mrs. Lucy C. Thomas and Miss Reba Caldwell of Lexington; two sons, Alfred Caldwell and Duncan Caldwell of Lexington; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mamie Caldwell of Washington,Ga.; one brother, John A. Mattox of Carlton, fourteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

Mrs. Caldwell was 88 years old, the daughter of Christopher and Martha Bell Mattox and had lived in the Palmetto community all of her life. She was a faithful member of the Christian Church. Her husband preceded her to the grave on March 6, 1938.
