Jovita L. Walker, 58, of Freeport, died suddenly Wednesday, July 20, 2011, in the ER of Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights, after becoming ill at home. She was born March 6, 1953, in Laredo, Texas, daughter of Irma (Martinez) Hastings, of Laredo, Texas, and the late Daniel B. Hastings Sr. She lived in Freeport for the past 26 years, prior to which she resided in San Antonio, Texas. Mrs. Walker was a dietary cook for Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights, for 28 years. She was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Freeport, Brackenridge American Legion Auxiliary and Freeport Eagles. She graduated from Nixon High School in Laredo, Texas, in 1972, and attended one year at University of Texas at Austin. Mrs. Walker enjoyed gardening, her fish pond and the outdoors. She was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and a Texas Longhorn fan! Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Fred P. Walker; sons, Forrest G. Walker, and Grey H. Walker; grandson, Kaleb H. Walker; brother, Daniel B. (Gloria) Hastings Jr.; and sisters, Sandra G. Vela, Sandra G. Vela, Cynthia (Fred) Regius, Irma Hastings, and Elizabeth (Joseph) Martinez.
