Ruth V. Hemming, 80, of Whitesboro, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2002, after a brief illness. She was born July 19, 1922, in Rome, NY, the daughter of James and Eleanor Maclaughlin. She graduated from Oriskany Central School in 1938 and from the Faxton School of Nursing in 1943. In 1945, she was a Second Lieutenant in the Army Nurse's Corps and was stationed in the 61st Station Hospital in Italy. She was honorably discharged in 1946. On June 14, 1947, she married Donald C. Hemming in Oriskany, NY, and dedicated her life to her family. She was a member of the Waterbury Memorial Presbyterian Church, Oriskany. She served as a Boy Scout Den Mother and as a Girl Scout Leader for several years. She was a member of the R. Kirk Parkhurst American Legion #1448, a past Auxiliary President and a past Auxiliary County President. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; four daughters and sons-in-law; 16 grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Allan and June Maclaughlin, and James and Clarene Maclaughlin, both of Florida, and John and Edna Maclaughlin, Massachusetts. She was predeceased by a daughter, Elaine; a son, David; and a brother, Stanley Maclaughlin... Interment, Oriskany Cemetery...
