Howard Eugene Pritchard, 77, of Turtle Creek, WV left this earth to live in Heaven on July 21, 2011 in CAMC General Hospital, Charleston, WV surrounded by his beloved family.

Howard was born on May 28, 1934 to the late Roma Lee and Shirley Pauley Pritchard.

He was a veteran, retired coal miner, member of the UMWA, gunsmith, and knife maker. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, camping and motorcycle riding. He was a lifelong member of the Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church of Turtle Creek and served as deacon and member of the trustee board.

Howard is survived by his wife, Vernia Belle Hale Pritchard; son, Tony Pritchard of Danville; daughters, Pamelia (Mike) Hager of Danville and Shelda Pritchard of Madison; grandchildren, Laura (Wesley) Mullins of Knoxville, TN, Joshua Pritchard of Huntington, John Howard of Pleasanton, CA, Charles Howard of Madison, and David Howard of Fairmont; great-grandchildren, Anna Marie and Malia Mullins of Knoxville, TN; brothers, Evert (Nellie) and Bernard (Yvonne) Pritchard of Turtle Creek; sisters, Edith Jarrell of Georgia and Gloria Dean (Ralph) Stowers of Turtle Creek; and a host of other family, friends, nieces and nephews he loved dearly.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 24 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Tom Bias and the Rev. Forest Curry officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park, Danville with military graveside rites performed by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578, Madison, West Virginia.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
