Daughter to Mary Ann Stiles and James Jennings.

She was married to presumed Andrew Jackson Stiles and was living with him and her mother Mary Jennings in Nevada City, Nevada Co., California in the 1870 federal census, her mother age 45, A.J. born in New Jersey age 38, and Emma Stiles age 25 born in England. In 1872 she was listed as "Mrs. Emma Styles (Stiles) in the article posted to A. J. Rigsby" in Nevada City, California in 1872.

Her husband was a mining engineer and they lived in many places including an area in North Dakota where Mrs. Emma Rigby nursed August Sahlberg back to health, and later in Mexico. For her kindness he left her a million dollars, and she is buried in the Sahlberg Mausoleum. Her husband Adonijan Judson Rigby died May 11, 1903 in Bangor, Maine according to the death certificate in Maine, although the paper reported he died in Old Mexico, believed to be confused with Old Town in Maine. He had been married prior to Alvina Thompson in 1847 and must have divorced prior to the marriage to Emma in 1872.

On March 4, 1872 her mother re-married to Andrew Jackson Stiles in Nevada City, California.
