Chester S. Poplawski, age 84, of 2603 River Hills Road, Two Rivers, died Wednesday afternoon, June 11, 2003 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2003, at The Klein & Stangel Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be Deacon Ken Coenen. Cremation will follow with burial of the cremated remains at a later date at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc. Chester was born April 23, 1919 in Milwaukee, son of the late Ignatius and Anna Lenda Poplawski. He was a graduate of Marquette University and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On Aug. 17, 1946, Chester married the former Anne Surmer in Cudahy. He was a lifelong member of the VFW. Survivors include his wife: Annie Poplawski, Two Rivers; one son: Tom and Peggy Poplawski, California; three sisters-in-law: Marianne Schmidt, Emilie Trochta, Marge Surmer; 13 nieces and nephews: Robert (Karen) Schwenke, Emmy Ann (Larry) Becker, Dick Trochta, Joan Schrank, Agnes (Robert) Fohr, Arlene (John) Jensterle, Curt (Kathie) Staszak, Bobbie Stimac, Debbie (Ted) Gollakner, Deanne (Tom) Sinkula, Bill (Charlotte) Surmer, Dawn Mohn, Dana (Shane) McLinn; great-nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. The family will greet relatives and friends, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2003 at The Klein & Stangel Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Two Rivers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VFW Post 1248.
