Portia Lee Adams, 81, of Hinkleville community, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005, at her home under the care of Peoples Hospice of Clarksburg.
She was born Nov. 26, 1923, in Webster County, a daughter of the late Bessie Irwin.
On Sept. 8, 1942, she was married to Clarence J. Adams Jr., who preceded her in death June 18, 1972.
Surviving are three sons, Larry J. and wife, Bobbie Adams, of Matthews, N.C., Jeff W. and wife, Cheryl Adams, and Stephen F. and wife, Shelia Adams, all of Buckhannon; two daughters, Barbara and husband, Fred Cleveland, of Carriere, Miss., and Pamela Damron of Huntington; six granddaughters, Missy Wright and Christa Sawyer of Matthews, N.C., Angela Damron and Laura Adams of Huntington, Stephanie Adams and Emily Adams of Buckhannon; five grandsons, Michael Cleveland of Birmingham, Ala., Marc Cleveland of Hattisburgh, Miss., Keith Damron of Huntington, Scott Adams and Matthew Adams of Buckhannon; one stepgrandson, Josh Reed of Columbus, Ohio; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister Evelyn Chetlat of Baltimore, Md.
She was a homemaker and Methodist by faith.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery at Hinkleville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Peoples Hospice of Clarksburg or Sand Run Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. Adams. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
