Mr. Leslie O. Armistead, Age 87 of Hickman, TN., died Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Riverview Regional Medical Center, Carthage, TN.

Mr. Armistead was born November 10, 1921 in Elmwood, TN., the son of the late Maymie Jane Bellar and Letcher Ligon Armistead.

A Sister, Reba Alvis and a Daughter-in-Law, Paula Kemp Armistead preceded him in death.

He was a 1940 graduate of Gordonsville High School and was a Veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army.

He was married on November 6, 1946 to Mildred Marie Cowan.

He worked for Ross Gear Division, Tennessee Dept. Of Transportation, Hire and Long Furniture and retired in 1990 from Tredegar Industries/William L. Bonnell Co. where he served as Security Guard for 22 years. He was a member of the Hickman Baptist Church and was a Deacon at one time.

Mr. Armistead is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mildred Cowan Armistead. Daughter, Theresa (Jimmie) Nolen. Son, Paul Armistead all of Hickman. Grandchildren, Tracy (Keith) Holder, Bobby (Marie) Nolen and Alice Smith. Great Grandchildren, Chance, Dusten and Callie Holder. Sister, Geraldine (Charles) Murray of Gordonsville, TN.

Mr. Armistead's remains are at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes where Services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. conducted by Bro. James Hutchings and Bro. Donald Elmore. Interment Baird Memorial Cemetery, Hickman, TN.

The Armistead family will receive friends at the Gordonsville Chapel on Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.

Memorials may be made to Hickman Baptist Church.
