Lillian (Walo) Baker, 87, lifelong resident of Whitman, died Feb. 11, 2005 at the Skilled Care Center at Silver Lake in Kingston, MA. She was the wife of the late Leslie H. Baker

Born in Boston, daughter of the late John and Hilja (Wisala) Walo, she was a 1935 graduate of Whitman HS.

At one time, Mr. Baker worked in the office at the former Commonwealth Shoe and Leather Co., the assessors office and the Dept. of Public Works office, retiring in 1986. She also worked at the town elections for 32 years.

Mrs. Baker had been a member of the First Congregational Church in Whitman since 1935 and belonged to the Everson Class, the ChiKappa's and was the first secretary for the church, a position she held for many years.

She was belonged to the Whitman Senior Citizens, the Whitman's Club and the Ball and Chain Bowling League.

She is survived by her four sons, Leon Baker of Whitman, Lee Baker of Hanson, Leonard J. Baker of Halifax and Larry Baker of Hanover; two sisters, Helen Fedele of Kingston and Trudy Dexter of Florida; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at Blanchard Funeral Chapel. Burial in Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman, MA.
