From the SF Bulletin of Oct. 12, 1888: Enos H. Smith, an old Sacramento merchant and well known to all pioneer residents, died yesterday in this city. Deceased, who had many friends throughout the state, came here from Connecticut in 1849. He became interested in farming and stock-raising and for many years was in business in Sacramento, the firm name being Scranton & Smith. Of late years, he has resided on a large ranch at San Pedro Point, San Mateo County. Deceased was born in Connecticut in 1825. He leaves a widow. Funeral services were held today at the residence of Jerome Madden on Twenty-First Street near Valencia. The remains were taken to Sacramento for burial.
