Martha Ann Grier "Mattie" Boyce, daughter of Samuel Amzi Boyce and the former Miss Eliza Ann Moore Nesbitt, was born on May 1st 1868.
Mattie, as she was known, graduted from Due West Female College in 1891. Wanting to travel and help spead the Gospel, Mattie was a missionary in Mexico for five years following her school days. She then returned to Due West, because of her health and became Principal of Due West Female Coolege for three years.
Martha Ann Grier "Mattie" Boyce departed this life on July 22nd 1903 at the young age of 35. She was laid to rest in the churchyard cemetery of Due West A.R.P,. with Rev. Dr. James M. Bell officiating.
