On August 19, 1886 Eli married Miss Macy Lida of Seneca county, Ohio. They were the parents of Grace Kittie, Jennie and Esther Coleman.
Portland Observer: September 14, 1910: Funeral services were held for the late Eli Coleman, who was with General William Tecumseh Sherman on his march to the sea near the end of the Civil War. (The Coleman farm was what we know as the Riley Sandborn farm on Grand River Avenue, just east of Sunfield Road and the red brick Coleman Rural School in Orange Township.)
